Banquet Captain

Position Summary:
The Banquet Captain is responsible for the successful execution of all banquet events and or ensuring the highest level of guest service within budgetary guidelines. 
 
Essential Functions:
1. Is responsible for practicing, supporting, and promoting Whitney Oaks Golf Club’s “Winning Attitude” company-wide culture and demonstrating AAA Four Diamond guest service standards at all times.
2. Works with the Food & Beverage Manager to understand the needs for each banquet.
3. Coordinates food service between kitchen and banquet service staff.
4. Inspects all set-ups and ensures that they follow the Banquet Event Orders (BEOs).
5. Ensures that all policies and procedures are being followed by Team Members.
6. Monitors all beverage consumption and addresses issues of intoxication.
7. Adheres to basic personal hygiene and grooming standards.
8. Reviews and implements table and seating diagrams.
9. Controls transfers and stock inventory.
10. Manages all opening and closing side work.
11. Completes event Captain’s reports.
12. Completes strike lists and closing inspection duties.
13. Complies with all health and safety regulations.
14. Controls and limits waste.
15. Maintains banquet cleanliness in front and back of house.
16. Assists in pre-service and periodic training.
17. Completes accurate bill according to the BEOs and obtains signatures from hosts.
18. Manages inventory and operating materials.
19. Implements and supports all Whitney Oaks Golf Club initiatives and programs as requested.
20. Responds to guests’ questions, concerns and requests.
21. Trains banquet servers as needed.
22. All other reasonable duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
1. Two (2) years of experience in the service industry, preferably in a catering/banquet environment.
2. Experience in effectively resolving guest issues and complaints.
3. At least 21 years of age.
4. ServSafe certification.
5. Ability to work with little or no supervision.
6. Effective written and oral communication skills.

Physical Requirements:
1. Requires normal, corrected vision range, the ability to distinguish letters, numbers, symbols and colors. 
2. Ability to lift up to 50lbs.

Work Conditions:
Work is typically in an area which may be hot, cold, and noisy.  May occasionally work outdoors in inclement weather and temperature conditions.  Constant interaction with Team Members and guests.
